Working Group: Growing Healthy Bodies

The Growing Healthy Bodies Working Group is working to increase the number of Canadian children and youth who are physically active by developing strategies to effectively promote physical activity and ensure that it is available for all children in a safe and supportive environment. The group is also working to diminish weight bias through education and by advocating for the development of anti-weight bias policies. In addition, the Growing Healthy Bodies Working Group collects and disseminates evolving Canadian and international data that improves our collective understanding of childhood weight, nutrition, activity and the impact of their interactions on long term health and wellbeing.

Current Work

The Growing Healthy Bodies working group is involved in the development of a new module for the Canadian Institute of Child Health’s online profile, The Health of Canada’s Children and Youth. The Growing Healthy Bodies module is focused on child and youth nutrition, physical activity, sleep, body image, growth, eating disorders and healthy lifestyle choices.
