Advancing Physical Literacy and Sport Participation of Canadian Children
Vancouver, BC - 60 Minute Kids' Club and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame are pleased to announce their partnership to support greater physical literacy levels and sports participation of Canadian children.
The partners have rallied around their core competencies and a common purpose: to help kids become physically literate, with the skills that enable participation in sports from an early age and throughout their lives. Such skill development has fallen off significantly over the past decades. 60MKC and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame have come together to ensure Canadians are supported in reaching physical literacy by focusing on children and youth.
Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and 60MKC both run effective programs and have tools for assessing, teaching and learning proper fundamental movement skills, critical precursors to fundamental sports skills and, therefore, sport participation. The partners’ shared belief is that competence across the movement and sport skill spectrum helps kids to become engaged and successful in sports.
Through this partnership, 60MKC and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame demonstrate the value of not-for-profit and charitable organizations working together, sharing assets and expertise to accelerate impact in their communities. This partnership will increase both the reach and impact of the partners’ respective programs. The approach is to activate the present generation of kids, to recognize and honour past work, and to build on physical literacy efforts to date.
