World's Largest Sandbox

New and improved accessibility for the 2016 World's Largest Sandbox

The 5th Annual World's Largest Sandbox is now accessible to more children

Every year, The Sandbox Project holds the World’s Largest Sandbox – our signature annual event that aims to raise awareness of the importance of collaborating, investing and focusing on the health and wellbeing of Canada’s children and youth.  This yearly event brings together Parliamentarians, media personalities, not-for-profit organizations and industry professionals in a giant sandbox with local children and school groups for an exciting sandcastle-building competition.

This year, The Sandbox Project has partnered with Smilezone Foundation to build a fully inclusive sandbox structure. For the first time ever, in collaboration with the Ontario Association of Children’s Rehabilitation Services (OACRS) and the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC), we are happy to announce that the World’s Largest Sandbox event is now accessible to all children.

The Pan Am Parapan Am GIANT Sandbox

On July 8, together with our partners, The Sandbox Project built a giant sandbox at Earlscourt Park in Toronto as part of the Pan Am Torch Stop festivities. We are delighted to announce that the Pan Am Parapan Am GIANT Sandbox event was a great success. The sandbox was filled with families as well as children from local daycares, day camps, and the community.

News Release: The fourth annual World's Largest Sandbox

OTTAWA, June 10, 2015 - Canada's leaders are playing in the sandbox to build a healthier generation of Canadians.  In order to raise awareness about The Sandbox Project, Canadian Members of Parliament, Cabinet Ministers, media personalities, NGO's, families and industry professionals built sandcastles in the World's Largest Sandbox event on Sparks Street in Ottawa on Wednesday.

Many Canadians would be surprised to know how badly we fare when it comes to the health and wellbeing of our children. Canada faces an unprecedented future where our children have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. With a specific focus on injury prevention, mental health, growing healthy bodies and the environment, The Sandbox Project is working hard to counteract this worrying trend and improve child and youth health and wellbeing in Canada. The objective of the World's Largest Sandbox event is to raise awareness of the importance of collaborating and investing in child and youth health issues.
