Time to Act: UNICEF’s Report on Child Well-Being in Canada

In May 2025, UNICEF Canada released Report Card 19, a comprehensive assessment of child and youth well-being across 36 high-income countries. Canada ranks 19th overall, reflecting concerning declines in life satisfaction, high rates of youth suicide, and ongoing challenges such as bullying and social isolation.

The report highlights that, despite Canada’s wealth and resources, progress in improving outcomes for children and youth has stalled—and in some areas, worsened. The report calls for urgent, coordinated action to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, supportive, and healthy environment.

We believe these findings as a call to action. We are committed to collaborating with partners across sectors to develop and implement strategies that prioritize the well-being of children and youth in Canada.

By addressing the gaps highlighted in UNICEF’s report, we can work towards a future where every child in Canada has the opportunity to thrive.
