House of Commons Standing Committe on Health posts YCRH submission.

On August 23rd, The House of Common’s Standing Committee on Health (HESA) posted the Young Canadians Roundtable on Health’s (YCRH) submission to the Children’s Health Study on their official website. The study titled “Response to the Standing Committee on Health Study on Children’s Health” highlights five priorities first identified by the Inspiring Healthy Futures initiative and reinforced by the YCRH for the government to focus on when supporting children and youth in Canada.

The study and it’s findings can be found here.

Meet the Young Canadians Rountable on Health (YCRH) members

In honour of International Youth Day, we are doing a feature of some YCRH members from across the country!

 Meet Aimee Coles!

She has always been interested in connecting with other youth across Canada and being a part of a youth led project with a national impact. She has been with the YCRH for several years and is proud of her work with the YCRH.

Meet Matin Moradkhan! She is currently a new project lead at the YCRH. She believes that if we want to see changes in the future, we have to start believing in our youth today. She is proud of being a part of the YCRH as the group is creating positive change by giving opportunities to youth to be involved in the decisions affecting them.

Meet Katelyn Greer! She enjoys meeting other youth wanting to make a positive impact as it fills her with joy! She also appreciates building a strong network of youth that can change the world.

Meet Ysabelle Tumaneng! She was inspired to join the YCRH as she was fortunate to access readily available medicine at the nearest drug store under her family's health insurance. She believes that access to healthcare is a human right. This fuelled by her passion for spreading awareness about the ongoing health disparities in Canada,.

Last but not least, meet Raissa Amany! She is currently the Executive Coordinator and Project Lead at the YCRH. Her passion for child and youth health stems from her experience of being an immigrant to Canada and having a chronic illness. She understands first-hand the struggles of being a part of a marginalized community and as has dedicated her life to giving a voice to underrepresented youth.

We would like to thank the five YCRH members and the rest of the roundtable for their hard work! The YCRH is a powerhouse of a passionate group of youth who are creating changes in the child and youth health space, learn more about their work: http://sandboxproject.ca/ycrh-home
